This was the very first attempt at casting a fire ant colony with molten aluminum. I had no idea how much aluminum I would use, and ended up not using nearly enough and the colony was not completely cast. Most of the cast is the below ground portion of the colony. I mounted it and gave it to a friend who painted it silver, which is why it is so much shinier than the others. It came out of the ground very dull.

This is one of only a few bases that is painted black.
