This is a small, partial fire ant colony cast that is the result of failed attempt at a larger cast. This cast was given away for free on Christmas 2014 at the
Anthill Art Facebook Page. I usually scrap these but this one looked interesting and stands up on its own, so I knew someone would want to have it. The "base" that keeps it standing upright is from the aluminum spilling out. It looks similar to a bonsai tree. The "trunk" is a shaft of aluminum that is a result of the pouring process and the "limbs" are the tunnels of the colony that were cast. For whatever reason the aluminum solidified too quickly and a complete cast wasn't possible. It's a very small cast, smaller than any others I have posted.
