This is one of the early attempts at mushroom casting. I didn't dry the plaster enough before pouring the aluminum, causing the aluminum to bubble when casting. As a result, the stem wasn't completely cast but there was still enough of it to be stable and mount to the base.
The mushroom is a funnel type, similar to
this one, but with an interesting "water spout" on one side of the cap.
